The latest HDTV provides us with the ultimate in video entertainment, often using the latest LED or LCD wide screen displays for amazing clarity and realistic colors. Some owners have a need to use more than one display screen, for any number of reasons. In a home theater, setting it may actually be better to have two slightly smaller displays rather than one very large on, and the two smaller units may be less costly than one larger one. But the HDTV units only have one output, so the question is how do you connect two HDMI screens to one HDMI source? The answer is that this kind of hook-up can easily be done by using a Sewell rg59 Cable unit. The signal splitter allows you to use multiple screens with a single HDMI source unit. It is a small accessory that splits the signal into two identical signals. Now, the published HDMI cable specifications limit the distance of the cable to 16 feet, but that appears to be a conservative limit, since with careful engineering the HDMI Splitter can permit distances of up to 100 feet.

Understand that this splitter takes one program and sends it to two separate and identical “mirrored” displays. If you have multiple HDMI sources, a HDMI switch is needed to select from one of up to three sources. One thing worth mentioning is that if the HDMI displays are not the same, the one with the lower resolution will force the same degree of resolution on the monitor having a higher resolution. This is because the splitter actually also sends display parameters back to the HDMI source and it then adjusts o the lowest common denominator, so to speak.
